Hello everyone. I have a dormant database of gas turbine data set up as a website: http://jet-engine.net, if anyone is interested in having a look. Any corrections/updates are welcome.

I started it years ago when I discovered that there was nothing like it on the internet, generally by collating data from multiple sources (Flight, AvWeek, Janes, etc.). I've been working on updating it over the years, mostly working offline and I'm planning on uploading the updates I've made recently.

I'm only posting here to spread awareness of my dinky website. I don't sell anything nor make any money off the website, so this is not advertising...

Nate

ETA: Also, I'm an engineer, so the website is focussed on providing the data, rather than looking pretty ;-)

I also need some help/advice on the website coding, because I'm way out of my depth:

I'd like the table of data displayed with the header rows and engine designation fixed/floating and the top and left side so that when you scroll through the data you still see the header.

I have the offline working files in Excel format. I currently export as HTML format and upload to the website, but if I could somehow just upload in native format (and the webpage post-processes to display properly) that would be great.

Does anyone know how I can do either?

It looks like my hosting supports WordPress (whatever that is).

The web page is originally from 2000 and I hand coded the front pages , but that's really at the limit of my knowledge.

Ideally you need a rethink of the entire project.

There's a few ways you could go. You could turn the Excel files into Google Docs and simply link to them.

Ideally you want the data to be in a database format. Then you can create different views and filters to view the data rather than fixed sheets. You could show engines by manufacturer, by type, by country, etc.

I second what Paul said regarding format and view, and I also think your note on being able to view the headers constantly is crucial.

There aren't many good engine sites out there, surprisingly enough.
I had come across your site before a few times in previous years.
It's a very worthy endeavour, Nate.

Values in metric units would be nice too!

Great site overall

I would just like to make everyone aware that Google Sheets versions of these engine data tables are ALREADY available on the Aviation Enthusiasts Cloud. You can sort and filter on any column.

Volunteers to help maintain and populate sheets on the Cloud are always welcome.

Thanks to Nate for his earlier permission to use the data.
