Jean Pottier was an engineer and pilot who enjoyed an exceptional career spanning four decades. After working for CARMAN, he joined Aérospatiale, and all the while continued to conceive aircraft for amateur construction.
Sailplanes, all-metal tourism aircraft, ultralights, biplanes, high-wing monoplanes, even a flying wing and a blimp... Pottier was a genius of light aviation who was able to anticipate the expectations of amateur builders around the world.
He became secretary of the RSA (French EAA), then its president from 1996 up to his passing in 2003, managing to federate the various associations of amateur builders and collectors in order to obtain better representation and defense before administrative authorities.
Jean Pottier met with a tragic death in one of his airplanes in September 2003. He was only 58 years old.
