Hi all,
I was going to put this in unbuilt projects until I read that the precursor project resulted in an engine that flew supersonic (m1.8).
Anyhow, beyond a few fluffy articles and a very short related Wikipedia article I can't find much on the program, I was hoping someone here could fill me in.

Is anyone familiar with the programs particulars?

Is the engine design significantly different from RELs SCIMITAR?

Lastly, where is the program at now?

Is it shaping up as a serious contender for producing the first practical hypersonics?

Cheers all!

Hi!

That's brilliant, thanks!

I wonder if JAXA have the budget to follow this through and what their time frame is. I also wonder what the economics of Mach 5 flight on the proposed 100 passenger aircraft are like, cheaper or more expensive than concord?

The Japanese are quietly working on some very interesting stuff all over the place...
