In the second volume of his series on Airplane Design, Jan Roskam starts from a basic fuselage configurations and develops three distinct aircraft concepts from it:
- A twin-engine propeller-driven airplane, the Selene, after the goddess of the moon in Greek mythology.
- A jet transport, the Ourania, after the Greek muse of astronomy.
- A fighter, the Eris, after the goddess of war in Greek mythology.
