Sadly I cant see the big powers agreeing that today.

In ancient times the appearance of a comet caused famines and wars, what would have occurred if the Tunguska event had devastated Kapustin Yar during the Cuban Missile Crisis? In my opinion the discovery of the Chicxulub event convinced world leaders of the need to initiate some kind of understanding to avoid the start of a nuclear war because of a misunderstanding.

There is another ding dong he did not mention, Navy F/A-18 pilot Ryan Graves who is promoting the "Americans for Safe Aerospace" organization. He just did an AMA on the UFO subReddit. However I find it completely disingenuous, if it was anywhere near legitimate then why did he only approach the UFO subreddit, and not anything Air Force or Navy related, Aerospace related, pilot related, or anything even remotely Aviation related. I completely don't get it. Is there a giant paycheck for screaming "UFO" somewhere?

In my opinion the opposite is happening, humanity has access to more and more information and the possibility of generating its own ideas. Is this just disinfo in the same old way to distract from real black projects. Are they trying to sell these stories to other countries. Are people just out of personal financial/fame gain. Sure, but aviation and space technology development would likely continue uninterrupted. Unless the aliens came down with a whole lot of science instruction, there's little enough we could practically learn from a starship. If you plopped a space shuttle down in front of Archimedes, what could he *actually* learn from it? What could we *actually* learn from a TARDIS? Somewhere between "fark all" and "not a damn thing."

The understanding that such things are possible would probably incentivize tech development, but it would be just a speeding up of the process, not fundamental leaps.

It would likely trash the sci-fi genre, however. Especially if we learned about what's actually going on out there in terms of civilizations. Who would continue to write Star Trek/Star Wars/Alien/Whatever if we actually knew what the galactic culture was like?

This is the perfect answer to the above claim about "Mussolini's UFO" even if (and I don't believe in it) Italians recovered a real alien spaceship in 1933, they were unable to make any reverse engineering.

The proof is the average Italian aviation during WWII.

Another thing: if Italians had recovered an UFO in 1933 they would never gave it to Germans, at that times their relationships weren't so good as later (the "Iron Pact" happened only in 1939) and Germans was able to put their claws on Italian aviations prototypes only after the 8th of September 1943....

Having worked in those circles, NGA/NRO would not be the ones in the know if the US did have an alien spacecraft and no one would have access to 2000+ special access programs at any one time. Its hard enough getting access to such a program when you are working on it, much less when it has nothing to do with your day to day job.

Every step NASA took publicly, the NRO was making 15 in private. Most if not nearly all NASA progress almost always had other goals or projects in tandem involving DOD.

Oh please. Progress. Proof of concept. We have the technology. Apollo did not result in blowing up the Russians. The U.S. and Russia deployed ICBMs in 1959. And who is this "no one" you talk about? From the NRO to NASA, people have friends and family they want to protect. Artificial gravity has been tested by rotation.. It's called a Centrifuge.

So if United States came into possession of, say, a wreckage of foreign military satellite, then according to the Treaty, United States must return it to the rightful owner. Of course, US military & intelligence did not want to do it, since such wreckage is a valuable source of intelligence.

There was an active program for the retrieval of space material, MOONDUST. For the most part they were interested in US spacecraft that came back to earth. Launch failures, unexpected reentry, etc. In some cases foreign rockets or satellites were recovered but this seems to have been rare.

There are plenty of declassified documents describing the program and operations.
