Hi,

Rotodyne design (hybrid of an airplane and a gyroplane). Poland.

In 1948, prof. Zbigniew Brzoska and eng. Ryszard Orłowski from the Institute of
Aviation developed the concept of a rotodine, i.e. a hybrid of an airplane and a
rotorcraft (in this case - a gyroplane). Only a rotor model with a diameter of 2 m
was developed for wind tunnel testing. However, it has not been established
which aircraft was to be rebuilt by the installation of the rotor. One of the
possibilities was LWD "Szpak", which was then undergoing tests at the Institute.

The project was not implemented.
