Huge type XIB u-boat discovered ?

A huge Nazi U-boat claimed claimed never launched has been found.

Designated the type XIB with fore and aft 127mm twin turret mounts, the odd thing is that this never launched u-boat has a report of her sea trials on record from the Deischmag works

U-112 was laid down as werke Nr977. Officially the construction was canceled, but hey ho, a U-boat with type XIB dimensions and a copper plaque on it's conning tower hatch, werke Nr977 has been found on the sea bed near Boston.

Another U-boat of a different type was commissioned as U-112, but does not fit the same dimensions as the wreck.

Rumoured during the war to be part of the so called Black Fleet, Black Knight as the Type XIB was known, was never commissioned to the Kreigsmarine, but instead operated by the SS which were shipping Nazi gold to Patagonia (where two other U-boat wrecks are claimed to have been found).

Absolutely correct ! And after the war it was one of those boats, that brought Adolf Hitler himself
to South America (He never committed suicide, that was just a trick !), were he earned his daily

by the way, he was accompanied by Hermann Göring, who had changed gender in the meantime,
see the above mentioned sources. Highly recommended, it explains most historical events,which are
absolutely not understandable without this knowledge !

The Type XI cruiser submarine (U-Cruiser) with two twin 127mm turrets was a real design but never completed by the Germans. The stuff about Patagonia is just counter-knowledge.

Huge U-boats, designed in 1937-1938, with 4 127mm deck guns in two gun-towers (one fore and aft of the conning tower). 6 torpedo tubes (4 in the bow and two at the stern, all below the CWL). One Ar 231 small aircraft in a watertight 2.6m in diameter container shaft. These boats were to have a crew of about 110 men almost double that of any constructed German U-boat. 4 contracts (U-112 thru U-115) were awarded to the AG Weser yard in Bremen on Jan 17, 1939 but wisely cancelled at the outbreak of war in September that year and none of the boats had been laid down at the time (some sources mention U-112 as being laid down but that does not make sense).
These boats are often claimed to not only have been completed but sailed, usually on very clandestine missions and for good measure words like SS, Hitler, Bormann and the like are thrown into the mix. Highly recommended for all german navy ships, built or unbuilt until the end of WWII are the issues of
"Die deutschen Kriegschiffe 1815-1945", 8 volumes, written by Erich Groener .
I think, it's still the best researched and comprehensive about this theme, although, due to the number,
every single ship is described in relative short paragraphs. But in most cases this is enough information,
and it's reliable, I think.
