All of us know the Sikorsky modern helicopters and most of us know the old twin-boom amphibian Sikorsky S38 (or S39 and the bigger S40), but what is the missing link between them? The answer is: patent 1,848,389 (but the text is richer than that it seems, complicated though – autogyro? jet rotor?):

Tophe, you have had a way of making my day of late! Wow! Sikorsky, flying boats, helos... three things I love all in one package... Thanks a bunch!

Good find indeed and, with regards to the text, the first time (at least for me) to find
a mention, that Sikorsky was working on reaction driven rotors, a principal not often
used in Sikorsky designs, I think.

You made my day,

thank you my dear Tophe for this amazing project.
