Between 1962 and 1967 Austrian jeweller H.W. Brditschka (born 1930) started amateur aircraft building. He based his work on the Raab Krähe V design with a Puch 650TR engine. It was distinctive in that it had a pusher propeller located behind the pilot. Construction of the motor sailplane, called the Krähe/Crow, was completed with 2 colleagues. During 1967 to 1969 there was further development of the Crow as the HB-3.

In 1970, H.W. Brditschka‘s son Heino Brditschka, after completion of engineering education (specializing in aviation) started the aircraft division which was established within the family jewellery business. With three colleagues, Heino Brditschka started construction of some HB-3’s and other components for amateur builders.

Until 1986 traded as Brditschka. Name changed that year to HB-Aircraft AG with two foreign partners under the technical leadership of Ing Brditschka.

Around 1989 there was closure of the HB-Aircraft AG for economic reasons.

Heino Brditschka and and Rita Brditschka started HB-Flugtechnik the next year.
