I'm looking for pictures or drawings of the Grumman XP-50.
Thanks

Michal Bradáč

Have you tried the "Search" button in the top bar above? If you type "XP-50", "G-34", "G-41" or "Grumman Skyrocket" you should be able to find all that you're looking for!

I tried, but results are not sufficient... I want to fix my drawing.

Very nice! Alas, I have a lot more on the XF5F-1 than on the XP-50. Here's a 3-view plan that I found on the web some time ago. Not very good but at least it gives the proportions:

Over at Warbird Information Xchange, someone had posted masses of Grumman photos in the Photo Gallery. If they're still there, they escape my search...there were a number of beautiful pics of the XF5F and the XP-50.

The view from below is available in "U.S. Fighters" by Lloyd S. Jones, Aero Pub.1975. Are you interested by a scan or is it available somewhere else?

Yes, I am interested. :D Thank you!

Mr. Bradáč probably snagged this one already, but it's got a good view of the starboard main gear--

Given that a turbo explosion took out the prototype, those guys are right to look so wary...

Out of curiosity... This is the "BlackHawks" original "primary" fighter correct?

Randy

Absolutely! Later on they used a fictitious version of the Lockheed F-90.

I'm glad someone ELSE remembers some of this stuff! I may not feel so "geeky" for a few minutes now :D

Hmmm, off topic but didn't the "bad-guys" in the more modern comics use some sort of aircraft with a "reverse-delta" wing? Was something like that ever actually tried?

Almost, actually they used the F5F Skyrocket.

Since you guys have been posting F5F pics in a P-50 thread, I have modified the topic's title... ::)

The Skyrocket had counter rotating propellers (as the Lightning and the DH Hornet). Does anyone know if this was done via different gearing of the propellers or via total counter rotation of the crankshaft of the two engines?

Grumman XP-50 original manufacturer's model from 1941 – still in good shape!
