Thank you for the references, most interesting. Surprising that Davis said nothing about them in his book.I am also surprised that (as far as I could see on a quick skim-through) nothing is said about the aerodynamic effect of tracers in the booms, since most of them have them. It also seems that most of the "tracer booms" have different proportions to the solid booms tested (see below - note that the examples shown are for AA uses as well as aircraft), being wider, shorter and tapered. That makes me wonder whether there really is any connection between them, or whether it's a coincidence.
