Yes this is a sleeve valve engine(スリーブバルブエンジン). I'm trying to get technical data of this engine.

Hi Blackite, Gakken 31

http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E9%99%B8%E6%B5%B7%E8%BB%8D%E8%A9%A6%E4%BD%9C%E6%88%A6%E9%97%98%E6%A9%9F-1-%E3%80%88%E6%AD%B4%E5%8F%B2%E7%BE%A4%E5%83%8F%E3%80%89%E5%A4%AA%E5%B9%B3%E6%B4%8B%E6%88%A6%E5%8F%B2%E3%82%B7%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BA-31/dp/4056025096/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425352441&sr=8-1&keywords=isbn+4056025096

page 181 gives some specs. bore 130, stroke 150, displacement 22.2 L, compression ratio 6.5, rpm 3000 = 900hp (unknown altitude), 3300 rpm = 1200 hp for take off, weight 720 kg. Another designation is Ha 82-11.

There are some notes in Japanese which I think say 2 stroke, sleeve valve engine development stopped in 1944.

Thanks a lot Nick. ;)
Gasuden HA200 engine(Source : I attached a book cover, ISBN978-4-87687-329-6)
Gasuden HA200 engine

(2) Turbo compound engine(with two stage exhaust turbine)
(3) With two stage supercharger
(4) Manifold fuel injection
(5) Stratified combustion for low fuel consumption
(6) Bore : 130mm, Stroke : 150mm
(7) Displacement : 23.9L
(8) Take off power : 1300hp
(9) Completed and operated in 1940’s
(10) There was a similar rather small engine called HA143 which examined by MIT in 1945. (HA143 and HA200 engine development began in 1938.)
(11) Adhesion of a piston and a piston ring occurred.
(12) Engine oil consumption was excessive.
(13) Project terminated in February 1944 due to HA91 engine development work.

Hi! The artistic impression for Heinkel/Hitachi experimental heavy bomber with Gasuden HA200 engine.
You can see turbo inpeller and upper/lower exhaust gas tubing from cylinder head to turbo inpeller at each engine side.
(Evidence of turbo compound engine)
Also you can see large air intake for engine cooling by air flow at the front of the engine. ( Evidence of inline air cooling engine)
This artistic impression is an excellent one.
