Hi,


here is a mystery giant tailless transport aircraft project from Germany,and
may be the designer name mention on the drawing !,who can solve this ?.

That's the "Wochenendamphium" (Weekend Amphibium) designed bei Franz Kleinhenz and shown
as a mock-up on the DELA (German Aviation Exhibition) in 1932. It was exhibited there directly
at the Messerschmitt stand and so is often erroneously reffered to as a Messerschmitt project.
This amphibium was intended to be powered by two Diesel engines of 120 to 150 hp, so it probably
would have been underpowered, even with the liquid fuelled rocket booster, that was planned to be
installed. The landing gear was designed as a caterpillar drive to allow for easy beaching.

That's a good find indeed.Although with regards to wing and empennage a conventional layout,
the hull shows the inverted V-shape, too, which was chosen to gice inherent stability.
BTW, I've changed the title once again, as the patent shows a really large aircraft, but for the
"Weekend Amphibium" length was given as just 7,60 m and span 16,0 m, so hardly "giant" .. ;)

but do you have anther giant aircraft to that designer ?.
 
No, until you posted this patent, I only knew the relatively small amphibium. Those aircraft designs seems
to have been only a relatively small part of Franz Kleinhenz work, as he was more successful in designing
and constructing wind power plants during the time from 1937 to 1942.

Amusing how so many twin-hulled seaplanes have been proposed, but how few make it into production?????????
It's not so amazing for those who studied "résistance des matériaux" (structural engineering?)
With a little intuition, twin hulls are just inviting structure stress. --And overstress.

Yes, even small, civilian catamarans endure massive twisting motions in their "bridges" as the two hulls react to different waves and swells.
