Flightglobal; future aircraft in 1998

Hi,

in a special issue for Flightglobal,they wrote an article about
the future aircraft and spacecraft.

The second image lightcraft with the ribbed bell nozzle reminds me a lot of those coanda effect UAV's. I wonder if that might be a viable solution to getting the lightcraft off the ground far enough for the laser array to use the bell?
