Didn't the Fairey Delta II supersonic experiment aircraft perform well? FD. II was much smaller bird than the projected FD. III; Fairey's original proposal was to base their F155T project on that one, which would have been relatively easy and perhaps it would have provided a good interceptor to RAF in the early 1960's.
