Which was Boeing's losing proposal. McDonnell Douglas won and then Boeing took them over.

It gets confusing since McDonnell Douglas was merged with Boeing and went defunct on August 1, 1997. Was this a Boeing proposal, or a McDonnell Douglas one that was re-marketed under the Boeing name.

There is no confusion. My first sentence wasn't a question, it was a statement on photos. They are of Boeing's losing proposal. There were 4 competitors: LM, Boeing, MDD and ATK. The EELV downselect was before the merger and the McDonnell Douglas proposal was one of the winners (hence the name Delta IV).
