Mixed signals out there on whether Epson is ending production of the V850 large format flatbed scanner. Supposedly the Epson V800 ended production in 2021.

Video claiming the end is nigh:

And Epson's response: https://petapixel.com/2025/02/05/ep...cd-film-scanners-are-approaching-end-of-life/

I have both a V700 and a V800 - the V700 is something like 15 years old and I bought it refurbished - would guess it has somewhere well north of 250K worth of scans on it. That's my traveling scanner and I bought a V800 4 years ago as a spare but ended it up setting it up with my desktop. As I am retiring and will be doing far more scanning in the coming years, after reading the chance of it being no more, I bought a V850 and will hold that in reserve just in case....

So, what other brands out there are capable of scanning negs, slides and prints - up to 11x14 in size? Who is doing it using a digital camera instead?

Enjoy the Day! Mark

Canon exited the CCD scanner business circa 2016 as I recollect. Epson is the last supplier of quality consumer flatbed scanners, a segment which must have peaked in sales over 20 years ago.

Next Epson, there still Plustek and Viisan but i don't how good there are in Scann quality.

alternative are multifunctional Printers like Epson Work Force that got A3 Scanners
or special scanners for Document and large books

The multifunction printers don't have CCD scanners and aren't suitable for film and negatives
