I can't remember where I read about it. The story was in the end of World War I or in the early 1920s in the USA a very heavy bomb was designed, build and test. But the plane, for which this bomb was designed, never get into the service. Only after many years they build next bomber capable for such heavy load. Maybe someone have more information about this bomb?

I seem to recall a photo of a relatively huge bomb, say 4000lb range (?), intended for something like the Bartling(?). Rather long and slim.
 
Built by the U.S. Army's Engineering Division, may I add.
