When the Sidewinder had its initial IOC in 1956 as the Sidewinder 1 (AIM-9A) it had no rollerons due to balancing issues causing mechanical noise that effected its' seeker electronics (Introducing microphonic in its' sub-miniature valves). Those problems were subsequently resolved in and introduced when the Sidewinder 1A (AIM-9B) entered service in 1958.I don't know if the Sidewinder partially shown in detail has slab tail fins because it is a training article, or because that bit of technology was still classified at the time.
