and the Kawanishi K-9 was a project for transport aircraft,it was
never completed,has anyone a drawing to it ?.

Recognizing that the aviation trade shows there is interest in the competition sponsored by Imperial Aviation Association category of high-speed racing aircraft, at the suggestion of Ûkiši Goto Kavaniši company was the first Japanese aircraft ¹ designed exclusively for high-speed racing missions. Project, which received the designation K-2, was started by Eidži Skiguči in January 1921 year.
This project was very extreme for Japan of those years. The low-wing cantilever layout type Junkers had been used in Japan for the first time. The wing was chosen to profile Durand 52. Later, at the suggestion of the Goto to consoles were added to the wing braces and, eventually, racks, connecting the wing with the top of the fuselage, have replaced braces. K-2 was not designed for the stability of the keel, relying only on the shape of the rear fuselage to which was attached the rudder. The obvious reason was the lack of track resistance, particularly at takeoff.
The cabin was placed low in the fuselage and had no windshield. Every effort has been made to reduce drag, but looks odd that the radiator was mounted high above the bulky engine as in the case of k-1, which was taken by the inline six-cylinder engine Hall-Scott L-6. The plane was made mostly of wood. Single instance was collected in August 1921 year.
The flight tests of K-2 reached a top speed of 146 mph (234.914 km/h), demonstrating the great potential for participation in the competition. However, damage to the screws and other accidents were aircraft from the outset, depriving it of the opportunity to fight for the Championship speed. July 31, 1921 year the aircraft in flight at low altitude over Kagamigaharoj aircraft developed a speed of 160 mph (257.44 km/h), but the official speed record was not approved

In 1920, the firm "Kаwаnishi Engineering Works" from Kobe organized a plant unit. Its first project was a double room-to transport mail Kаwаnishi K-1, equipped with an American six-cylinder motor cooling water Hаll-Sсоtt L-6 power to 200 horsepower. (146 Kw).
The aircraft pilot Юкиши Goto took the second place in the competitions organized by Imperial flying association in 1921. Goto the K-1 overcame 685 kilometers in 4 hours 50 minutes. As he had received the second place in the category high-speed aircraft regurgitation at an average speed 192 km/h.
In spite of its successes K-1 for its intended use is not used once. In the main the toughest on the job. In doing so, he became the first Japanese aircraft were flying fitness certificate.
In 1922, for the purpose of testing the aircraft established german six-cylinder engine Austrо-Dаimler 180 horsepower.

Fascinating stuff! The pilot's name was Yukichi Goto, by the way, not "Юкиши", whatever that is. Regurgitation?

I'm always surprised the Japanese didn't make more attempts at the air speed record, besides the Kawasaki Ken-3
 
The Kawanishi K-9 Transport-plane.
Kawanishi designed a real cargo transport with high mounted mono wing which matches the worldwide tendency of the those days in 1925. But this cargo transport wasn't manufactured actually. This cargo transport designed based on Kawanishi K-8A transport seaplane, and design result was utilized for design of Kawanishi K-12 long-distance aircraft. This cargo transport had change system for land base aircraft and seaplane.

K-7A Transport
In December 1923, Kawanishi began to design a high performance transport seaplane, and the first aircraft was completed in November, 1924. Thick wing was employed, so strut was simplified. The stability, steerability and the general performance of this aircraft were good, and 10 planes were produced by Japan aircraft corporation of Kawanishi's affiliates. The wing area of this airplane was half of the failed mail plane K-5, and a saloon was installed in the fuselage. Tandem type cockpit was installed behind the saloon. The performance was also excellent in a very progressive design as those days for this airplane. It's regretted that it wasn't adopted as a military plane.

K-7B Mail plane
K-7B mail plsane replaced an engine Maybach M4a inline liquid cooling 6 cylinder of K-7A transport seaplane to Lorraine 400HP engine, installed flap in main wing for the first time, had undercarriage change system for land use and water use, completed it in November, 1925.
At first, this aircraft was used as a high performance mail plane, later converted into seaplane. Required time to change landing system was only one hour.
In case of land plane, horizontal strut between tire which had wing shape cross section acted as a small wing, increased payload compared with seaplane.
This aircraft was mainly used as Osaka Fukuoka route mail plane, later succeeded Osaka China(Dairen ) route mail transportation. Payload was 300kg. Only one K-7B was made.

The design of this aircraft was began in March 1921 and completed in October 1921. Chief desinger was Eiji Sekiguchi.
This aircraft was a three seater which had side by side front seats and single rear seat.
The uses of this aircraft were communication flight, sightseeing flight, Advertisement flight and mail flight.
This aircraft had inner wing radiator.

Modified K-3 communication plane.
Engine :
Type Bz-3AV. One of the Benz engines used by the Germans during the latter part of the war had six vertical water-cooled cylinders of 140 mm. (5.51 in.) bore, 190 mm. (7,48 in.) stroke, and 1070.16 cu. in. total displacement. The normal output at 1400 r.p.m. is 221.5 h.p. and the maximum at 1600 r.p.m. is 239 h.p. At normal speeds the brake mean effective pressure is 117 lbs. per sq. in., and at maximum speeds 110 lbs. per sq. in. The compression ratio is 5.8 to 1, The fuel consumption is stated to range from .474 to .491 lbs. per b.h.p-hr. The mixture is furnished by two Benz Bz-3-A-l37 carburetors, having .42 mm. (1.654 in.) chokes and main jets of 1 mm, (.039 in.). Lubrication is of the dry sump type. A gear pump delivers approximately 23 lbs. pressure, to the bearings, and a six vane centrifugal pump of approximately 4.5 in. diameter delivers water to the cylinder jackets through two outlets. Dual ignition is supplied by Bosch Z-H-6 magnetos.

The individual cylinders of steel barrels screwed into cast iron heads are encased by sheet-steel water jackets which are Pig. 86. Intake Side, 2I)0-h.p. Benz Engine.

Kawanishi K-5 mail seaplane.

Kawanishi began K-5 Mail Seaplane as the first domestic large transport seaplane in November, 1921, and only 1 plane completed in October, 1922.
Two crews were sit side by side and a room with a mail was installed behind of the crews. A room with a mail could also be diverted into a guest room of 4 passengers.
The construction of the main wing and the arrangement on a seat of this aircraft were novel as those days. U.S.A.27 type was adopted as the cross-sectional form of the main wing. However, this aircraft was lacking in output of an engine, and the expected performance couldn't be shown. Tested several times , but take off from the water was difficult and wasn't a gift after all.

Designed as a transport aircraft carrying two passengers under the auspices of the Mainichi newspaper.
