I can't at the moment see EIGHT alternatives, unless say one set of wings goes with two sets of tails, in which case some of the eight become guesswork?

There is surely some of that. Same fuselage, different wings; different fuselages with the same wing, etc.

The thing to do would be to extract fuselages, wings and tails from that drawing separately, and start matching up.
