Dornier's sketch looks practical on several levels.
My I suggest a couple of improvements?
First permanently install engine wash spray bars in cowlings and link them to hose fittings on sponsons.
Install similar fueling ports on sponson tips, perhaps even single-point, high-pressure refuelling.
Secondly retract main wheels so that they half protrude from sponsons to act as bumpers.
Thirdly, re-configure the nose wheel so that it retracts more like a Wipline or Aerocet.
