Judging the development times of nowadays aircraft, such designs probably are about 40 to 50 years ahead of
our times now, I think.
Maybe then there will be good reasons for several of those craft skimming the sea in formation ... :

Why is there such a recurring obsession with large passenger seaplanes now that almost everywhere worth flying large numbers of people to already has perfectly good airports?
