Like the Belgian Renard R-38 the Netherlands had their own advanced fighter project.
It was developed by the aircraft division of the famous Dutch shipyard Schelde.
It was a totally metal aircraft with two tail boom configuration,it had also a tricycle under carriage like modern aircraft. and was mend to be equiped with the famous Merlin engine or DB 601 but because the looming war the Schelde engineers had zero on their recest.
When the Germans invade Holland at 10 may 1940 a first protype was in a advanced stadium of building
The cockpit resembled the one of the B-29,a greenhouse type with a very powerful cannon in the nose.
This cannon was made by the Swiss company Solothurn.
If this fighter made on time to be operational,it was a very useful fighter, far more better than the antique
Fokker D-21
I hope that some one have more info about this very advanced fighter project.

Wesselink and Postma, de Nederlandse Vliegtuigen, p.122 has info on de S-21. If you have no access to this (Dutch language) book, I can scan the page for you.

thanks for the extensive documentation, Justo! ;D
The cutaway is particularly nice!

De Schelde had other fighter projects beyond the S.21. The 1938 S.22 project was to be a high-winged, twin-boomed fighter powered by a Merlin II. The S.24 was related to the S.22 but a 2-seat recce aircraft powered by a pusher Asso 120. The S.25 was another Asso 120 powered 2-seater but this time with a gull wing.

I may sound a little finicky here folks, but the name was not "Schelde", but de Schelde! Unless you want to call de Havilland just "Havilland"? Or von Braun just "Braun"?

Nice finds! This airplane really does capture the interwar realm of untested dreams. It is nice to see the wood model and other drawings.

521 is a drawing number Hesham ,not a designation.

(tek. : abbreviation for : tekening , means drawing)

Yes my dear Lark,

I know that,but they used two series,521 and 4301 & 4302,as I heard the last two
numbers were for a drawings also ?.
