Real story is that those harebrains were going to be instructors, but found it smart to post this picture of themselves.
They were disciplined.
(Me, I would have disciplined them for the wrong adjusting of their rifle's sling, but I must be an old fart.)
 
I was watching full metal jacket cut scenes for laughs, than saw this on the recommended side on the right and wondered what it was than laughed like an idiot.
