I'm reading Sayer's Army Radar and in chapter 4 there are a number of references to the term "cuckoo" as a cover for radar development. These appear in very early documents, from 1936 at least.
I have never come across this before and I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with it? Is this something Watt and/or the Air Ministry was using, or perhaps something used only by the Army?
