I have often wondered whether the P1154 in RAF service could not have simply operated as a STOL aircraft like the Jaguar.
The two planes are very similar (not the same of course).
By removing the vertical take off and landing requirement but retaining the swivelling nozzles to angle on take off the 1154 would have been easier to develop and imtroduce into service. It would also have appealed more to countries like Belgium looking to replace their Hunters.
