Orionblamblam,I was told in regards to the B-58 that it's use of honeycomb allowed it to fly faster than traditional aluminum sheets. There may have been more to it than that, perhaps the fact that they featured some kind of composite core, or who knows what else. However, Convair probably used similar honeycomb technology on the F-102 and F-106 as well...KJ_Lesnick
