do you know the other contenders in this competition?,I don't know if the
Bell D-35 was submitted to this tender or for Convair XF-92 contest !.

I don't know the D-35 was a penetration fighter,so I asked about if that aircraft
submitted to this competition or for XF-92 competition.

Sorry - no idea. I tripped over this drawing while looking for something specific for somebody. I copied it in case someone might be interested in it. (I wasn't since it wasn't U.S. Navy.)

But Bell filed a patent for a reaction control mechanism and one of the accompanied drawings is very reminiscent of this design. The filling date on the patent is March 26, 1945 - lending further credence to a possible link.

In this competition,the main tenders were;

- Bell D-35
- Consolidated-Vultee Interceptor (Rocket powered with V-tail)
- Douglas D-558 Phase 3
- North American RD-1381-B
- Northrop ?
- Republic AP-31

The Northrop submitted a flying wing rocket powered,but unfortunately this design maybe took a PD series,
that's because it was not mentioned in the book; Flying Wings & Radical Things: Northrop's Secret Aerospace
Projects & Concepts 1939-1994.
