Clare Vance was (apparantely) a mail pilot in the 1920's. He also designed several aircraft. These are:
Baby Lark V-S-1
Biplane of 1923
Flying Wing or Viking
Golden Arrow
(two versions M-1, V-1 or two different aircraft named Golden Arrow)
Having spent a long time looking for information, I only found some on the Viking, along with photographs.
Has any reader got more information and especially photographs of the other aircraft?

Cheers

Not about the planes, but to note that Vance died in a plane crash in December, 1932.

My research on Vance aircraft types from my as-yet unpublished CODACAM website:

Here are photos of Vance's 1923 plane from the San Diego Air & Space Museum (SDSAM) Archives, AL13 Air Mail Pioneers Album on Flickr. Note that historical documents contain variations on Mr. Claire Kinsey Vance's name including Clair, Clare and C.K. Mr. Vance's first name was not Clarence.

Great documents, thanks!

Thanks for clarifying this. I had no idea that the spelling "Claire" could also be used for men, never saw that before!

I have a large collection of information on the Vance Flying Wing. I've seen no historical record that Charles Rocheville was involved in the design of the Vance Flying Wing. There appears to be modern confusion between the Vance and Emsco B-8 "Asbestos" flying wings. The latter was designed and flown by Mr. Rocheville circa 1930.

This is the clearest photo I've found of Vance's 1923 airplane. It is from an old eBay listing.
