No, I'm not talking about the pretty dull NASA employees that used to pose with wind-tunnel models... nor all the distasteful cheesecake pinups that pose topless on modern warbird photos... Simply cute vintage girls seen in old magazine ads and articles:

Here is one of them, seen on eBay a while ago, on the cover of R/C Modeler Magazine, August 1968:

Indeed that does sound distasteful!.... erm.... do you have any links, just so I can be 100% sure that I don't approve of this kind of thing? :D

ROTFL!

Just Google "girls aircraft" or "girl warbirds" and that should be a good place to start... ;) ;D

The magazine cover in the first post; is that supposed to be a real design or just something made up for RC?

I believe it's for R/C only, but I was kind of hoping someone would pick that one up and tell us more... ;)

Will we have a board entirely devoted to cheesecake here on Secret Projects?

Would Mrs. Overscan approve of this, anyway? ;D

Well, not only may we have some women, but statistics show that about 10% of the population bats for the other team, or switch hits. So now we're going to need some beefcake photos of guys with planes. Now, let's see, where's the picture of me shirtless in front of a Cessna.... ;-)

So long as it's not in the same topic, I don't mind! ;D

This is Claire, a Playboy playmate, posing on a P-51D for pinup illustrator Robert Alvarado.

Isn't it an amazing picture?!? ;)

I've been unable to locate a higher-res version of this one, and so I can't decipher the author's name (a shame, since I'm sure there's more of the same in his works...):

Thanks a lot! I've updated the post with the proper info, and attached a slightly higher quality version of the pic (full view on Flickr is a fantastic 2048-pixel wide image!).

A few from yours truly. -SP

The WASP on the far side of the A-25 is Dora Strother, who worked for Bell Helicopter for many years. Many years ago I bought a Squadron/Signal book on the SB2C that happened to have this picture in it. I thought it looked like a young Dora, who I knew was a WASP. When I showed it to her, she confirmed that it was and was very pleased to see it. It turned out that she remembered the photo session but had never seen the result. So I gave her the book. For more on Dora, a great lady, see http://www.au.af.mil/au/goe/eagle_bios/1997/strother_1997.asp.

Wow. Fantastic photo, Triton! Marilyn at the peak of her beauty leaning on a helicopter in bright sunshine... doesn't get much better than this!

More from Jim Verbz's Fighter Femmes series ("Operation Georgie" set). What a gorgeous model!

Enjoying the show, especially the first pics on the thread; but am I the only one who'd be a little freaked out by those heels if it were my sheet-metal?

Something like the guy in this video.

A set of beautiful photos (I think they're from the Library of Congress but I'll have to check):

Shouldn't those Ruskie Chicks from the Museum be on this thread? (If for no other reason than the MCP-pressure suits ;) )

I don't have them unfortunatly, (something about downloading pics of pretty girls in flight gear on a work computer, some folks just don't appreciate aerospace history :) but someone had posted pictures from a smaller Russian aircraft museum with some VERY pretty girls in attendance of the aircraft. The only specifics I recall is one shot showing the interior of the Russian "Space-Fighter" vehicle. Anyone?

Are you sure it isn't the Monino Museum in Moscow (the big one)? There are several women among the restoration volunteers.

One of my favorites from artist Greg Hildebrandt.
