RIP Carrie Fisher
Whatever about being a fan of particular celebrities who died this year they and their families should deserve sympathy and sadness for lives cut short.

Sad to read about Carrie Fisher dying at 60. Far too young.

It's not necessary to get into an argument over how one reacts to the passing of people famous or not, but I'm going to lift the words of Steve Matchett (mechanic, author, TV commentator) from earlier this week.

I understand the impermanence of Life, I do, I've seen it play out but that understanding never reduces the hurt in the loss of our heroes.

And I'll simply add that it's nice to remember your heroes may not be mine, or mine may not be the next person's, but that doesn't mean that they're any less important to the people who loved, respected, or otherwise followed them. That's all.

Perhaps we should add a line to the forum rules:
"Threads purely started to express condolecence must not be used to express any kind
of assessment or opinion"
Everybody can have such thoughts, of course, but please, keep it for yourself !
In most societies statements about such sad events are quite strictly regulated
and that's called "piety" or simply "good behaviour".

Sad to see her go, she portrayed an iconic science fiction (fantasy) character.

On a lighter note, the First Order's obituary.

Thanks Steven, needed that laugh :)
RIP Carrie Fisher; always Princess Leia but with many other strings to her bow.
