Britten-Norman had its excursion into the field of hovercraft during the '60s, too, The so-called
"Cushioncraft" made its first flight during June 1960. Instead of fans like in most contemporary
hovercraft, it used a peripheral rotor, which was seen as a way to obviate air drag losses in a
duct system.
