Hello, my first time starting a thread on here so excuse me if I did something wrong.

Between 1941 and 1945 Breguet studied a series of 3 aircraft projects of very large proportions designed to carry large quantities of passengers and freight at high altitudes. The projects were known as the Breguet Stratospheric Transports, and officially designated as Breguet 850 and 851. All 3 aircraft were to be of a twin fuselage configuration, with passengers and freight compartments being situated within both the wings and fuselage. The project advanced to mockup and wind tunnel testing, however was cancelled in 1945.

The information comes from Jean Leyvastre's book "Les Avions Breguet 1940-1971", which is in French. I have attached text and diagrams from the book below, if anyone is able to translate them.

If anyone has any additional information on this project, please post.

With electric motors of today much smaller than radials—multi-propeller designs may make a comeback…or so I hope.

Foolish, I know—but every time I see a twinjet (fuel sipping or no) overhead…I can feel another part of my soul dissolving.
