Boeing Monomail

Hi folks,

A rarity of the '30s was the Boeing Monomail Model 200. This was later developed into the Model 221 and 221A. I believe all of these were one-offs (though I could be wrong) - hence their inclusion here. Even rarer was the variant (registered NC725W) which was briefly fitted with fixed undercarriage (the others had semi-retractable landing gear).

Well, the Monomail formed the basis for the B-9 and that, in turn, provided the basis for the Boeing 247. What's interesting is to contrast this with the not much earlier P-26. It could be argued that much of the improvement was the result of Boeing buying Jack Northrop's first company and incorporating the technology developed there. An arguement could be made comparing this aircraft with early Northrop products like the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma.
