Boeing Model 869: VG Mohawk replacement

I have just found a copy I made of a picture on the old Aerospace Projects Review site of a Boeing swing wing aircraft looking like a Grumman Mohawk but flatter. Confusingly there is a side view drawing in Internavia from about 1962 showing a Republic (I think) vstol pair, one of which is like the early AVS design and the other like the Mohawk. I must try and find this as I think it is a miscaption of a Boeing handout rather than Republic.

Note how the fuselage is nearly identical to the one shown in model form in the magazine article, but without the VG wings.

In Aerofiles site they spoke about Boeing-837 as rumored swing-wing
close-air support project for the Army to replace Mohawk.

But this VG-wing design seemed very complicated = expensive for such basic role in which it was to have served!

In the context of 1960 I think VG was thought of as a universal panacea, the cost/benefit analysis not yet clear.

And yet look at how progressive was the thinking of the U.S. Army in the early 1960's. A far cry from the convention of today.

That looks great. There is one slight error with the multi-views; in the bottom view, the wing tip should be clipping out the stabilizer, since the stabilizer is higher than the wing. Just saying. Nice work.
