I was looking at my new up ship bomber projects 8 and I've become quite taken with the Boeing model 800-11a. Some googling for more information proved fruitless which is frustrating but completely justifies the $4 I spent to download it because I obviously wouldn't have found it otherwise just by browsing the net.

I really enjoyed the section on the cl-400 in "skunk works" but there isn't much else around on hydrogen powered aircraft that I've found. There is the FAS section on Aurora and it's potential fuel/propulsion systems with a helpful fuel energy-density chart, the NASA presentation that's the main reference in the cl-400 Wikipedia article and the aforementioned chapter in skunk works but that's basically as far as I've gotten.

The model 800 is much bigger than the suntan and seems to manage to overcome the low density issue by the straight forward method of having massive volume including 2 drop tanks. That seems like it could have been an easy solution for the suntan as it could have used them for the low speed ingress portion of the mission and pickled them when they were in the dash portion over enemy territory.

Does anyone have any more information on the Boeing model 800-11a or knows where I might look? Also, can anybody suggest some reading on hydrogen/methane etc. fueled aircraft?

Lastly, am I right in thinking there have never been any hydrogen powered air breathing aircraft that have made it to test flight stage?

Thanks all.
