Boeing 757 "Nose Circle" (British Airways)

Hello Everyone,

This might sound like a silly question but, why did British Airways' Boeing 757s have that black circle round their nose? It was the only type of aircraft in the fleet to have something like that. Was it there for aesthetic purposes or was it there for a reason?



It is clearly illustrated in the photo above.
