Artist's impression of British Hovercraft Corporation (BHC) Hoverfreighter at sea. This 4,000 ton 480-ft long oceangoing hovercraft would have had a cruising speed of 50 knots with a load of 2,000 tons.

Model of BHC Hoverfreighter.

I suppose AgustaWestland would still own the rights to this beast?

The Hoverliner or Hoverfreighter loomed large in Children's comic strips of the 1960s, notably
in Ranger's "Jason January" and in the TV21 comic derived from Gerry Anderson's TV shows.

In reality I don't think anyone ever flirted with such designs as they were far too expensive and
did not offer a financial advantage over more conventional designs. They look great though and would make nice models.
