During the 1960's NASA looked at several possible improvements to the existing Block II Apollo's. One such study was by Bell and looked into a new design for RCS thrusters, which was theoretically scaleable from 5lb to 1000lb of thrust.

The links to the NTRS disappeared in the 'Cry Wolfe' incident, but I've finally managed to relocate the files on a backup drive and for those who are interested both volumes of the report are available below. The attached pictures show various cooling methods considered for this thruster design.
