Friedman does mention this gun in it's USN battleships book:page 331 lower right corner mentions a 3x2 18" ship on 45.000tons for the Montana/Iowa development line of 1938/39there is also a mention for n 50.000ton maximum battleship with 3x3 18" cannons at page 239 (together with 20" designs! originally 24"! ) of 1934/35
