Specification 4/27 for Imperial Airways flying boats for the
Mediterranean section of the new India air route. Large three
cngined monoplanes were envisaged, the AVIo 606 with square
section and the AVIo 607 with circular section hull. The produc-
tion contract was awarded to the Short Calcutta and neither of
the Avro designs was built. (Avro 606) Three 505 h.p. Bristol
