Tornado ADV with Skyflash was what we could afford.To deal with Su24 and Mig 27 attackers over West Germany or Denmark and Norway Lightnings and Phantoms needed replacing as did three squadrons of Jaguars in the close air support role. F18 would have done the job if money were there. As it was another twenty years were needed to get Typhoon.
