My prejudice against Ikara is based on two grounds, which may also be wrong.The size of the system meant tbat 8 frigates became single role platforms which was a lot in a fleet short of hulls. Seaking ships could have carried non aswweapons too.As far as I can gather Ikara needed a nuclear warhead to be effective against Sov subs.I would welcome a good source..
