Armstrong Whitworth motorized launch trolley

Air Ministry spec B.12/36 for a four-engine bomber required the aircraft to be stressed for catapult-assisted take-off at overload. Armstrong Whitworth tendered the AW42. They also devised and patented a motorised multi-wheel vehicle that could be used as an alternative to a catapult. Patent GB482057.
