According to AOPA article Groom Lake has gotten an airport identifier of KXTA. My guess...they'er applying for a GPS approach?! ;)

That article is over 2 years old....

They've used a couple of identifiers over the years, KXTA has been in use for a while, and if I remember correctly it's been in the Jeppeson DB's for a long time.
