Mistel VI (September 1944) was a composite bomber comprising one Arado Ar 234 C-2 piloted component and a specially developed Arado E 377 remote-controlled glider bomb.
Take-off from a five-wheel jettisonable trolley was assisted by four HWK 501 RATO rockets.
The E 377 was a S.V. Selbstvernichtung (self-destruction) component designed in three versions:
-Antiship, with one SC 1800 bomb warhead.
-Antibunker, with one 2,000 kg of Trialen 105 hollow charge.
-Antibomber, with one 2,000 kg of liquid explosive aerial mine developed by the Dipl.- Ing. Dernann.
Mistel V (November 30, 1944) comprised one Heinkel He 162 A-2 piloted component and one Ar E 377a (S.V.) lower component powered by two BMW 003 A-1 turbojets.
It was proposed in antiship and antibunker versions only.
Both Mistel projects were cancelled at the end of 1944 when all BMW turbojets production was awarded for the Volksjäger program.
On January 1945, due to shortages in the production of Arado components, Junkers proposed to continue the Mistel V project using a remote-controlled Ju 268 powered by two Porsche 109-005 expendable turbojets, as a lower component. The Ju 268 was cancelled, along with the Porsche turbojet, in February 1945.
