Someone pointed this out to me -

"Go to page 23 of the 4th July 2011 issue of Aviation Week, look at the bottom right hand side of the photo. There is what appears to be a smallish black aircraft that I'm not sure is an F-117......"
I haven't got the magazine in question - should I be rushing to get it?

Here's the a/c you are asking about ... I'm sure someone will rattle off what these all are within the next 30 mins or so!

also attached is the image that the selection came from.

"USAF Lt. Col. Hank Griffiths was at the controls of F-35A AF-6 for a successful 3.6-hour ferry flight to Edwards AFB, California, on 13 May 2011. Griffiths is the director of the F-35 Integrated Test Force at Edwards. AF-6 is the first production model of the F-35 Lightning II."

In the bottom right corner you see X-Planes flight line. The smallish black aircraft is the F-16XL next to F-15 ACTIVE.

btw - the black jet looks like the F-16XL to me...

The other F-16XL and the F-18 HARV testbed are sitting there too.

while the 4 craft from the left is second F-16 XL prototype NASA used for experiment
the 2 last craft from left are Northop F-5E or T-38

I doubt it because there seems to be a cockpit. Also the wings are further to the rear and placed in high position.
