An element of truth..

One of the things that I have learnt from the various topics I have joined in on this site is that even the oddest argument or statement can often have some truth in it.
Perhaps it is ingrained in me after sixty years in education, work and retirement that both sides of an argument deserve a fair hearing. The current default seems to be an aggressive assertion of your own position and a shutting down of further discussion.
Curiously this seems common to all sides of a debate. Which is why I try to keep my threads polite and open to all points of view.

Everybody has a little temper... Especially when some nasty questions are asked. On top of that, language communication is still a factor that cannot be ignored, after all, not all native English speakers on this platform are available. And there are some things that you can't prove, and it's very likely that you'll fall into the trap of self-proof.
