Almost a thousand LARC-V were built for US, Argentina, Australia, Iceland, Indonesia, Phillippines, Portugal and Singapore. The US Army used them to haul supplies across beaches during the Viet Nam War. Argentines used them to invade the Falkland Islands in 1982. The US Navy recently overhauled and up-graded 42 LARC-V.
Retired LARC-Vs carry tourists on amphibious "duck" tours of harbours. LARC-V replace WW2 vintage DUKW amphibious trucks.
